The service was friendly and the food was good. Their seafood is very fresh and even the stuff that's fried is not greasy. They also have grilled shrimp or chicken salads if you are looking for a healthy option.

We ate here two nights in a row due to the very limited number of dining options on Grand Isle and this was walking distance from where we were staying. All of the food we tried was mediocre at best. The fried shrimp seemed to be a safe bet but was NOT. It was way overcooked and not even hot when it arrived. We tried the burgers, chicken tenders, fish, fried chicken - nothing would even qualify as "decent." Everything was either undercooked or way overcooked and nothing tasted fresh. Next time I'm there I will probably just cook at the condo and avoid the local restaurants.

The Starfish is an unassuming local restaurant on Grand Isle. It remains one of the only places open during on and off season. As a recent camp owner on island, I've been able to have several breakfasts, lunches, and dinners here. Everything has been great. Their breakfast menu goes unnoticed on these YELP reviews, and needs to be commented on... their beignets, hashbrowns, pancakes, and french toast are all meticulously executed for their humble environment. As for lunch and dinner, you cannot go wrong with their fried seafood platters. There is not a better value for golden fried, crisp, and well seasoned Louisiana shrimp and fish freshly caught in the gulf.

I am personally giving it 3 stars just because there weren't very many healthier options on the menu, but because everyone else LOVED their food, it gets 4. I don't always want to eat fried seafood or a burger. On the other hand, everyone really enjoyed their burgers. I thought their onion rings were amazing. The sweet potato fries needed some kind of seasoning. The seafood gumbo was good but all I had in mine were shrimp. The service was good and a little kid walked by and gave out suckers to all the kids. Cute!

We stopped here to try some local cuisines. The menu is very LA centric and very heavy on the fried food options. The food was very disappointing. It wasn't anything that stood out. The service was very good and accommodating. I don't recommend going here if you're in a hurry.

Had lunch at starfish Restaurant! Ordered BLT without mayonnaise! Husband had bacon cheeseburger! His cheeseburger was great. My BLT was loaded with mayo! Waitress took the BLT off the bill, and offered to remake it! I just wiped as much mayo off the sandwich and tried to eat it! Didn't have another 45 minutes to wait for another one!

Like other reviews said good for the area. Portions are big enough to share. I had oysters and gulf shrimp, baked potato; they bring you bacon and cheese on the side for a loaded baked potato, and salad. The salad was a small bowel like the Dole or fresh express salad you would get in the store. I'm a butter only kind of person and they have butter spread, the hydrogenated stuff for the potato. The breeding was good, just a bit heavier that I would have liked to seen especially on fresh oysters and shrimp. My husbands catfish was good and his onion rings were the fine shoestring kind, good and more than enough for a family. For the size the prices were average' most meals were $18.99 give or take a couple dollars. You could probably get an appetizer portion and spend a lot less or split a meal. *****WATCH Your SPEED when traveling on Grand Isle******* 25 no if ands or buts.....

Love this place. The breakfast always hits the spot after partying all night on the island. I usually get eggs hash browns and ham. For lunch or diner you can't do wrong with the shrimp or oyster poboys with a side of onion rings. Great location right in the middle of the island. Friendly staff.

We'rrrre Baaaaack.....for Breakfast! Man, The BELT....Bacon,Egg,Lettuce & Tomato Breakfast Sandwich with hashbrowns, .hit the spot! The Bacon is plentiful & crisp! I look forward to enjoying another BELT on my next visit! We also went back for lunch & there were 5 of us.....we ordered the bowl of seafood gumbo w/ potato salad, crab cakes....Yummmola....Gator Poboy...soooo good....Cheeseburger & Ex-Lg Shrimp Basket....everything was delicious! No complaints. We ended the lunch with an order of mini beignets. We left happy & stuffed to the gills! No layin' on the beach for us ! The Starfish is a quaint colorful little restaurant with good food & great wait staff. We will always make it a Stop when we're in Grand Isle fishin' with our cousins. ** The building is Bright Lime Green, now...not blue.

Hubby had a huge cheeseburger and I had a BLT. Yes even tho we're in Louisiana , sometimes a plain old sand is what one wants. All ingredients were fresh. Even ice tea was good. If you find yourself on a long drive and wind up in Grand Isle, go to the Starfish. I've had their seafood before can't go wrong. Don't expect a fancy place but enjoy the food.

This is a small-town, welcoming, greasy spoon. If you visit Grand Isle, you'll get told to come here. I only did breakfast (two times), so I can't speak beyond it but others told me it was a solid lunch and dinner option. Pancakes are huge, the eggs and such are all standard. Otherwise, friendly staff and good prices make it a fine choice in this small town

This past Sunday, my wife and I decided to spend the day driving down to Grand Isle just to see what was there. Along with a very nice state park, we found this place. Although the atmosphere is really nothing special (well, more like one of those "hole-in-the-wall" kind of places we've all heard of), the food was really good. The place was hopping. It appears that there aren't really a whole lot of places to eat out down there and this one sure seemed to be getting its share of the locals' business. The fried oysters were *fresh*... some of the best I've ever had! The onion rings were nothing short of *amazing*... thinly-sliced and lightly-battered with just the right amount of seasoning. I definitely think that they're the very best I've ever eaten! I'm so glad we decided to stop for a bite.

We stopped in at the Starfish for a lunch dinner combo. That's right, two meals in one day at the same place. Are we boring? No, just poor planners that didn't figure driving to the end of the earth on a major holiday would alter our eating game. We were wrong. This was our option. Thankfully, the food was great, and the service was as sweet, and south Louisiana as it gets. My wife and I went with the New Years Day special, which was cabbage rolls, black eyed peas, and dessert. The meal was awesome, but the dessert was from another planet. My wife and I don't have a huge sweet tooth, but if you can wrangle some of the Mississippi Mud Pie, please do. If you can coax the secret recipe out of ownership, send it to me, and we'll be best friends. That night we had shrimp po-boys and seafood gumbo, and it was also Louisiana-riffic. The kids loved their burgers, fried fish, chicken fingers, and we all left the island a little chubbier. We'll be back!

This place is top notch. ANY of the seafood dishes will do great. And you get a lot for your money! Great environment, good people, and good food contribute to this 5-star establishment. Highly recommend the po-boys, they are all great! My girlfriend and I had them for dinner one night, and had enough leftovers for dinner the following night! There are also video poker machines for those who are feeling lucky. You MUST try this place.... you won't regret it!

The food was adequate, but over priced. The service was okay, but not great. The gumbo was bland.

The fried chicken was great. The kiddie hot dog was an odd shade of pink bit at least it was hot. The bacon burger was good for the only place in town. If they has competition I would have expected more. The service was minimal and the ladies were more concerned with having personal conversations and what time they got off than servicing their table.

Traveling though Grand Isle Louisiana a few weeks after Hurricane Isaac moved through didn't yield many choices for lunch. After consulting my trusty Yelp and sorting by the highest rated, we headed to Sara's--which was closed. Right down the street from Sara's was the second highest rated; Starfish Restaurant. It was open and busy (but not crowded). By this time, we were starving and wanted FOOD. Of course the thing to order in Grand Isle is seafood, so I had the shrimp platter. OMG it was the best shrimp I've ever had! It was fried perfectly, freshly-caught tasting, the breading was delicious, the portion was generous, and the wait was not long! There was nothing bad to say about this meal; several side options were offered, and they were delicious also. I highly recommend Starfish based on my one meal there if you are in the Grand Isle area. For me, it would almost be worth the drive back there!

The starfish cafe is a restaurant for those who have no place else to go. Beware, you will wait a minimum of 45 minutes for any dish that you order. On a side note, the food is great. This restaurant is one of 4 places to eat out on grand isle. Relatively speaking the food that you get is a great value for the money and is quite tasty.

We were down for some fishing in Grand Isle and stumbled into this place for lunch. We all had po-boys and everyone agreed it was good eating! Definitely enjoyed it! Soft french bread, perfectly breaded shrimp and great tartar and cocktail sauce. Pretty good onion rings as well! Nice friendly waitresses and good cold beer! Cheers to The Starfish! We'll definitely be back.

There are only a couple of restaurants in town. Subway, Arties Sports Bar, and Starfish. We opted for Starfish. It was exactly what we wanted. Down home, fried everything, family type business. Prices are a bit high on the platters, but the fried chicken, poboys, and appetizers were all pretty cheap. I had the seafood platter which included (all fried) shrimp, catfish, oysters, stuffed pepper, and stuffed crab. The pepper was forgettable, and the oysters were only ok (I love oysters, so I still liked them). The catfish was pretty good, and the stuffed crab was actually a nice surprise. The shrimp took the prize for the champ of the dish. If I were to return, I would get a combo with shrimp and something else. The lady had a 6 piece fried chicken dinner. She wanted the 4 piece but the 6 was only a dollar more so I convinced her to go for it. Whew. We had a lot of food. We also ordered fried pickles (I know, lots of fried food). They were acceptable, but not great.

The waitress was very friendly, and service was good. I can't say the food was great, but I can't say it was bad either. The beer selection is terrible; my options were Bud, Coors, or Miller!

Went for dinner here last night, did not expect much as it is a typical diner with miss matching tablecloths, ketchup and hot sauce on every table but the food was very good, I had the fried shrimp basket and the were fried perfectly and you could tell they were gulf shrimp and that they breaded them in house. Servers were all dressed differently, no uniforms but the server was good. An overall good experience.

I don't think you're going to find gourmet on Grande Isle, so my expectations weren't high. The seafood platter was good...the largest fried oysters I've ever seen (an oyster that requires two bites...whoa). The stuffed crabs were tasty, although there may not have been any crab. But it was good enough to fill the belly...and better than Subway or pizza at the gas station.
